Project Control Manager (Pipeline) - Calgary
The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. The Project Manager will ensure project execution success by adhering to HS&E, quality, schedule, and cost; oversee and be accountable for all project duties.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary (degree or diploma) in Engineering. Formal education in Project Management would be an asset.
- 10+ years experience in a Project Management role, preferably in Pipeline.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Project required. Experience with Cost Track and Primavera would be an asset.
- Demonstrated analytical ability.
- Experience with summarizing results and producing management reports.
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and develop creative solutions.
- Experience with maintaining project plans.
- Experience in a client service environment.
- Strong professional, oral and written communication skills. Ideally has had experience with resource negotiation and championing new ideas or processes.
- Able to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently. Demonstrates initiative and brings forward ideas which support team objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
- Prior experience with multi-year projects (3-5 years) and worth $5-$20 million dollars preferred.
- Project Controller for project, program and portfolio management.
- Knows and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures for cost, schedule and scope control change management and earned value methodology.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of master data including resource information; project, activity, and resource codes; enterprise project structure; security profiles; licensing information; etc.
- Reviews project invoices for alignment with contacts and budget allocations prior to submitting for payment.
- Participates in the development of the work breakdown structure
- Accumulates and accesses historical data, such as performance experience, for use in maintaining a basis for future planning and forecasting.
- Advocates good project management practices within work areas.
- Supports local teams as well as those assigned to field positions
- Provides supervision for the production of cost reports detailing budgets, approved changes, commitments and forecasts from available information and historical trends.
- Prepares and processes input to the cost control system for all cost reports.
- Performs analytical review and verification of cost reporting documentation
- Routinely provides accurate cost routing documents and leads the cost routing process for capital projects.
- Prepares graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status and forecast requirements
- Implements and maintains the Planning/Scheduling portion of Integrated Project Control System.
- Develops an effective project plan template that can be utilized for schedule development, schedule control, and critical path analysis.
- Understands engineering, procurement and construction schedule logic and can assess the impact of changes on the schedule.
- Analyzes, evaluates, and forecasts current status against an established baseline schedule.
- Participates in efforts to improve project or portfolio management, by proposing process or tool improvements, developing parts of processes, supporting process implementation
- Provides expertise and act as a resource to the team on “how to” apply the tools, processes and practices to the given project.
- Provides formal and informal training on the tools, processes and best practices appropriate for the target individual or team.
- Supports project managers and teams in the use of Project Management tools and processes.
